The Town of Hague Is Seeking a Volunteer Board of Assessment Review Member
The Town of Hague is seeking a community-minded volunteer to serve on the Town’s Board of Assessment Review (BAR).
The Board of Assessment Review helps ensure that property assessments are fair and equitable by reviewing assessment complaints submitted by property owners.
What Does a Board of Assessment Review Member Do?
Board members are responsible for:
- Reviewing property assessment complaints submitted by residents.
- Listening to property owners explain why they believe their assessments are incorrect.
- Reviewing relevant information provided by property owners and the Assessor.
- Making impartial decisions based on the facts and applicable New York State assessment laws.
Time Commitment and Important Dates
This is a limited-time volunteer commitment. The Board generally meets once a year for Grievance Day, which will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2027.
Training will be held in April 2027 at SUNY Adirondack. Additional details regarding the training date and registration will be provided.
Volunteers should be available to attend the training and participate in the annual Grievance Day proceedings.
